NOTICE OF RACE
LASER NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
24th to 25th February 2018

1 RULES
1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.
1.2 No national prescriptions will apply.
1.3 If there is a conflict between languages the English text will apply.

2 ADVERTISING
2.1 Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority.  If this rule is broken, World Sailing Regulation 20.9.2 applies. [DP]

3 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
3.1 The regatta is open to boats of the Laser Standard, Laser Radial, and Laser 4.7 classes.
3.2 Competitors must be members of the International Laser Association for 2018.  Competitors may join at registration.
3.3 Eligible boats may enter by completing an entry form and submitting it to the RVYC reception.
3.4 Late entries may be accepted at the discretion of the organizing authority.
3.5 Eligibility for age group categories shall be:

Youth Laser 4.7 2001 or later
Youth Laser Radial 2000 or later
Master 1964 to 1973
Grand Master 1954 to 1963
Great Grand Master 1944 to 1953
Legend 1943 or earlier

4 FEES
4.1 Required fees are as follows:
Class Fee
Juniors (under18) 300 BHT
Thai Navy 300 BHT
All other entrants 600 BHT

4.2 Other fees:
Membership of the Thai Laser Association (including membership of the International Laser Association) is 500 BHT.

5 RACING FORMAT
5.1 The fleet will be split into Laser Standard, Laser Radial, and Laser 4.7 classes with separate starts.  The organizing authority reserves the right to combine classes and/or starts if entry numbers are low.

6 SCHEDULE
6.1 Registration:  Entries must be submitted to the Royal Varuna Yacht Club Reception by 10:30 on Saturday 24th February.
6.2 Dates of Racing:

6.3 On the last scheduled day of racing no warning signal will be made after 14:30.

7 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
7.1 The Sailing Instructions will be displayed on the official notice board located on the RVYC veranda, or can be found by visiting the RVYC website.
7.2 If there is a conflict between the Sailing Instructions and the Notice of Race, the Notice of Race will take precedence.

8 VENUE
8.1 Racing will take place in the waters immediately off the Royal Varuna Yacht Club.

9 THE COURSES
9.1 Trapezoid and/or triangle-sausage courses will be used.  The configuration will be displayed on the official notice board.

10 TIME LIMITS
10.1 The time limit for the first boat to finish in each class is 60 minutes.
10.2 The time limit for the last boat to finish in each class is 20 minutes after the first boat in that class has finished.

11 PENALTY SYSTEM
11.1 Appendix P will apply.

12 SCORING
12.1 3 races are required to be completed to constitute a series.
12.2 (a) When fewer than 5 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores.
(b) When 5 or more races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.

13 RADIO COMMUNICATION
13.1 Except in an emergency, a boat that is racing shall not make voice or data transmissions and shall not receive voice or data transmissions that are not available to all boats. [DP]

14 PRIZES
14.1 Prizes will be given as follows:
1st, 2nd, and 3rd overall Laser Standard
1st, 2nd, and 3rd overall Laser Radial
1st and 2nd overall Laser 4.7
14.2 Only Thai residents and Thai Nationals shall be eligible to be declared the Thai National Champion 2018 for each respective class.  The champion must be a member of the Thai Laser Class Association.  A Thai resident is defined as a person who has resided in Thailand for a period or periods aggregating to more than 180 days in the 12 months prior to the Championship.
14.3 Additional prizes, including for age categories, may be awarded at the discretion of the organizing authority.

15 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
15.1 Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk.  See RRS 4, Decision to Race.  The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

3.2 Optimist competitors shall have been born in 2003 or later.
3.3 Laser competitors shall have been born in 2000 or later.

4 FEES
4.1 A 300 BHT entry fee is applicable for Optimist/Thai Navy
4.2 A 500 BHT entry fee is applicable for Laser classes.
4.3 A lunch box with drink will be available at 120 BHT per day, Orders need to be placed by Thursday 15th February

5 SCHEDULE
5.1 Registration: Entries must be submitted to the Royal Varuna Yacht Club Reception by 10:00 on Friday 16th February.
5.2 Dates of Racing:
