NOTICE OF RACE
YOUTH TEAM RACING CHAMPIONSHIP
7-8th October 2017
1
RULES
1.1
The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing – Appendix D, Team Racing Rules, will apply.
1.2
No national prescriptions will apply.
1.3
If there is a conflict between languages the English text will apply.

ADVERTISING
2.1
Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority. If this rule is broken, World Sailing Regulation 20.9.2 applies. [DP]
3
ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
3.1
The regatta is open to teams in the Optimist and Laser 4.7 classes.
3.2
Each Optimist team should consist of 3 sailors/boats:
- at least one sailor under 10 years old (born on or after 01-Jan-2007)
- at least one sailor under 12 years old (born on or after 01-Jan-2005)
- all sailors should be under 16 years old (born on or after 01-Jan-2001)
- there are no restrictions to number of boys and girls in each team
- the requirement for one sailor under 10 years old may be waived at the discretion of the organizing committee provided the replacement sailor is considered to be new to racing.
3.3
Each Laser team should have 2 sailors/boats. Both of which shall be in the under 18 category (born on or after 01-Jan-1999).
3.4
The organizing authority reserved the right to limit the number of teams based on the ability to complete a viable series.
3.5
Each team should register under unique team name.
3.6
Teams are encouraged to use color bibs, shirts or other means for team identification on water.

FEES
4.1
Required fees are as follows:

4.2
Club Optimist boats are available for charter by contacting the organising authority.
5
SCHEDULE
5.1
Registration: Registration of teams shall be made before 18:00 on Friday 6th October to sailtraining@varuna.org to allow the race/team schedule to be made. All fees must be paid at the Royal Varuna Yacht Club Reception by 9:00 on Saturday 7th October.

5.3
The format will be finalized depending on entry but is likely to be 1 or more round robin series, followed by a finals series for both Optimist and Laser 4.7.

SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
6.1
The Sailing Instructions will be displayed on the official notice board located on the RVYC veranda.
6.2
If there is a conflict between the Sailing Instructions and the Notice of Race, the Sailing Instructions will take precedence.

VENUE
7.1
Racing will take place in the waters immediately off the Royal Varuna Yacht Club.
8
RADIO COMMUNICATION
8.1
Except in an emergency, a boat that is racing shall not make voice or data transmissions and shall not receive voice or data transmissions that are not available to all boats. [DP]

PRIZES
9.1
Prizes will be given as follows:
Optimist - 1st, 2nd and 3rd teams overall
Laser 4.7 – 1st, 2nd and 3rd teams overall
9.2
Additional prizes may be given at the discretion of the organizing authority.

DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
10.1
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
